Innovators choices and decisions are limited by past choices. With new information and resources becoming available better choices are also available, however, innovators find it much easier to follow a pre-existing path instead of creating a brand new one. Inter-dependencies add another level of complexity. Many technological solutions are built upon platform technologies making them even more sensitive to initial conditions as every minor change in the platform technology will affect the surrounding innovation ecosystem.
