Nature of the method: Semi-Quantitative

Key/Critical Technologies methods involve the elaboration of a list of key technologies for a specific industrial sector, country or region.

A technology is said to be “key” if it contributes to wealth creation or if it helps to increase quality of life of citizens; is critical to corporate competitiveness; or is an underpinning technology that influences many other technologies. However the method is implemented (expert panels or surveys, for instance) it implies some prioritisation process (such as voting, multi-criteria and/or cross-impact analysis).
