Interconnecting knowledge on the future of science, technology and innovation

iKnow was one of six Blue Sky foresight research projects funded by the European Commissions Seventh Framework Programme for Research and Technology Development (FP7) under the Socio-economic Sciences and Humanities (SSH) theme. The project was aimed at interconnecting Knowledge on issues and developments potentially shaking or shaping the future of science, technology and innovation (STI) in Europe and the world.

Objectives

  • The aim of the iKnow project is to elucidate and examine events and developments potentially shaking (wild cards) or shaping (weak signals) the future of science, technology and innovation (STI) in the European Research Area (ERA)
  • To develop and pilot conceptual and methodological frameworks to identify, classify, cluster and analyse wild cards and weak signals (WI-WE)
  • To assess WI-WE implications for, and expected impact on, the key dimensions of the ERA Vision: Researchers mobility, Research infrastructures, Research institutions, Knowledge sharing, Cross-national research programmes (aka Joint Programming), and International science and technology (S&T) cooperation
