Scenarios on Artificial Intelligence in Public Administration

In today’s turbulent environment, long-term strategic planning phases with regard to future opportunities and challenges are becoming increasingly important, also in public administration.
- What technical developments are there in AI and what role do they play? How can they be networked?
- On which areas of public administration does AI have an influence?
- How, for example, is global social change towards individualisation changing the requirements in public administration?

The Fraunhofer FOKUS and ISI decided to try out a scenario approach for AI and the environmental conditions for AI in public administration. Four different scenarios were developed with factors, alternative projections and a description that can be used for different purposes, e.g. the German AI strategy.

Origin

Fraunhofer Fokus had the idea to generate scenarios but needed methodological know-how. They approached ISI and integrated the team into a larger project for the German Ministry of Inner Affairs.
