Cross-Impact Analysis

Nature of the method: Semi-Quantitative

Cross-impact has been also adapted to explore what groups of experts believe about the interaction between trends, stakeholders and objectives within a system (often called structural analysis).

One limitation of the method – in addition to the tedious effort that the completion of a matrix can involve – is that it does not deal well with forms of causality that involve the interaction of several variables, or where nonlinear relationships may pertain. Structural analysis focuses on the identification and interpretation of correlations between variables (e.g. trends and drivers).
